Description

A Bag Is a System. Volume Is Only the First Number.

The Forty Five carries 45 litres of Oxford shell with a nylon lining, a padded computer interlayer, interior slot and phone pockets, a bottle holder and an air cushion belt that distributes load across the hips instead of the shoulders. The waterproof, rip-resistant face fabric handles a wet pitch, a gym floor and a boot full of luggage without turning the contents into a rumour.

The strap architecture is the part that separates a pack you wear for an hour from one you wear for a day. Adjustable webbing, a soft handle, a sternum path and the air cushion belt let the same bag sit correctly on a 60 kg frame and a 110 kg frame. Twelve colourways run from all black through army green, khaki, red, blue, purple, mint and pink, so the pack can be a personal object rather than uniform issue.

Tactical detailing is functional, not decorative: external attachment points take a carabiner or a bottle, the bottle holder keeps a litre upright, and the flat base lets the bag stand when loaded. It is a rucksack for a gym session, a 48 hour trip, a hike, a range day or a commute, and the geometry does not change between them.

Pack sizing is where most buyers get it wrong. A 25 litre bag fails a weekend. A 65 litre bag gets checked at the gate and packs half empty. Forty five litres sits in the usable middle: cabin-compatible on most carriers, large enough for three days of clothing, and still stable when only half full because the compression straps take up the slack. That is why this volume keeps winning as a default rather than a compromise.

Carry less than you can. Carry it better than you did.

Where It Works

Gym and sports users carry kit, shoes and a towel in one bag. Travellers use it as a cabin bag for two to three days. Hikers and campers load it for a night out. Range and airsoft users attach pouches to the external webbing. Commuters use the computer interlayer for a laptop and the bottle holder for the commute home in summer.

Questions Buyers Ask

Q: Is it cabin sized?

At 45 litres it fits most airline cabin allowances. Check your carrier's dimensions, because low-cost airlines vary and weight limits differ.

Q: Does it have a laptop sleeve?

Yes, a padded computer interlayer sits against the back panel, sized for a standard laptop. It is not a hard-shell case.

Q: Is the fabric actually waterproof?

The Oxford shell resists rain and splashes and the lining keeps contents dry in normal use. For sustained heavy rain, add a rain cover, which is not included.

Q: How does it fit different body sizes?

Adjustable webbing plus the air cushion belt let you set the pack high on the shoulders and transfer weight to the hips. Loosen the belt for short carries.

Q: Can I attach extra pouches?

Yes, the external attachment points and webbing take carabiners, MOLLE-compatible pouches and a bottle.

Q: How do I clean it?

Empty it, brush off grit, wipe with a damp cloth and air dry away from direct heat. Do not machine wash a structured pack.

Q: Does the bottle holder fit a large bottle?

It takes a standard one litre bottle upright and holds it against the side of the pack. Wider insulated bottles fit, though a very broad flask will stretch the elastic.

Attachments are genuinely useful

I clip a small pouch and a carabiner to the external webbing for day hikes. Twelve colourways meant I could get something other than black. Zips have held up through a month of daily use.

Solid, add a rain cover for real weather

The Oxford shell shrugs off drizzle and splashes. In heavy rain for an hour you want a cover, which is not included. Compression straps keep it stable when it is half empty.

Gym bag that does not look like a gym bag

Shoes, towel, bottle and a laptop in the padded sleeve, all in one bag. The bottle holder holds a one litre bottle upright. Fabric has handled a wet pitch and a dirty changing room floor.

Carried three days of kit as cabin luggage

45 litres packed for a four day trip and still fitted the overhead bin on two carriers. The air cushion belt is the difference on a long walk through an airport, the load sits on the hips rather than the shoulders.
