the-threshold-pvc-strip-curtain-kit
The Threshold | 7-Strip PVC Curtain Kit for Cold Rooms and Loading Bays

The cheapest energy saving device in any cold room is a curtain. Every time a forklift passes a doorway, the room exhales. Strip curtains are not a decoration for the loading bay; they are a working barrier that lets the traffic through and keeps the temperature where the compressor put it. This kit is seven translucent PVC strips measuring 200 by 18 centimetres at 2 millimetres thick, hung from a single bracket to a total width of 1.05 metres.

The material is the whole argument. Environmental-grade PVC, waterproof and antistatic, soft enough to fold away from a shoulder without cracking and heavy enough to fall back into place after the truck has gone. It resists wind, water and scratches, holds its clarity so the bay stays visible from inside, and shrugs off temperature swings between minus 5 and 50 degrees Celsius without going brittle. There is no plastic smell, which sounds trivial until a curtain is hanging twelve inches from a worker's face for eight hours.

Installation is a bracket, a set of screws, and about twenty minutes. The strips hang individually, which means one damaged strip is a one-strip replacement rather than a whole-door purchase. Dust, noise and draughts all drop at the doorway, airflow stays normal, and the compressor cycle lengthens. For a small cold store, that is the entire return on investment.

A doorway is a hole in the envelope. Food production halls use it to separate a wash-down zone from dry storage without building a wall. Workshops hang it to keep dust out of a clean bay and to knock down grinder noise. Warehouses with a heated picking area and an unheated dispatch area use strips instead of an air curtain, because there is no electricity to run and nothing to service. Farms, car washes and commercial kitchens all use the same seven-strip kit for the same reason: it is the lowest-cost barrier that traffic can still pass through.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How wide a doorway does this cover?

A: The seven strips total 1.05 metres of coverage. A busy personnel door that opens forty times an hour loses a measurable volume of chilled air each time, and strips cut that exchange down to the gap between the strips. Most operators find the compressor runs fewer and shorter cycles within the first weeks.

Q: Can strips be hung on an existing rail or do I need this bracket?

A: The kit includes the bracket and fixings, so it hangs as supplied. If a rail is already installed and the hanging geometry matches, the strips can be transferred onto it, but check the hook spacing first because a mismatched pitch will leave the strips bunched at one end of the doorway.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0503/6412/1244/files/S022f8d6e57ed4542a1e98915357f9501z.webp?v=1769572255
