描述
Colour is the cheapest way to look expensive and the fastest way to look confused. The Meridian solves that with three blocks in a fixed order, stacked so the eye travels one vertical line from the shoulder to the hem and never has to work out where the body ends. It is the same trick a tailor uses with a well-cut seam: nothing is added, the proportions are simply decided for you.
The collar is a scarf rather than a lapel, tied at the throat and left to fall, which frames the face and keeps the neckline from reading as a plain slash. The body is a slim column in non-stretch polyester, sleeveless, with a split at the waist that opens when you walk and closes when you stand. Graded hem lengths of 80, 84 and 88 cm put the finish at mid-calf on an average frame, so it wears as a long-line dress rather than a floor-length gown, and it stays out of the way of stairs, gravel and taxi doors.
The fabric is the quiet part of the design. Polyester fibre with a non-woven hand holds the colour blocks crisp at the seams, does not bag at the seat after an evening of sitting, and takes a press without shining. There is no lining to ride up and no zip to fight: the sling straps adjust, the column pulls on, and the whole dress folds into the corner of a carry-on without needing a steamer to be presentable an hour later.
Three colours, one line, no decisions left to make at seven in the evening.
What the three blocks actually do
- ✦ Fixed three-block colour order, stacked to keep one continuous vertical line instead of cutting the body into segments.
- ✦ Scarf collar tied at the throat and left to fall, which frames the face and stops the slash neckline reading as plain.
- ✦ Split at the waist that opens on movement and closes when you stop, so the column silhouette stays clean in stills.
- ✦ Slim, sleeveless body in non-stretch polyester fibre, cut to hold its line rather than follow every contour.
- ✦ Graded hem at 80, 84 and 88 cm, landing mid-calf rather than sweeping the floor.
- ✦ Adjustable sling straps, no zip, no lining: the dress pulls on and stays where you set it.
- ✦ Colour blocks are joined at the seam, not printed, so the edges stay sharp after repeated wear and washing.

The rooms this dress is cut for
Built for the evenings that start late and end in a different room: a club night where the lights flatten every fabric except a hard colour edge, a cocktail bar where you are standing for three hours, a summer wedding with a dress code that stops short of formal. The mid-calf finish is what makes it usable in daylight too, with flat sandals and a linen shirt over the top. Pack it for a trip and it earns its space, because the colour blocking reads as intentional even after eight hours in a bag.
Before you order
Q: How does the sizing run against the length grading?
The three sizes are graded on both body and hem, so the S is the shortest at 80 cm and the L the longest at 88 cm. If you are tall and usually take a small, expect the hem to sit above mid-calf, which still works with a heel.
Q: Is there any stretch in the body?
None. The fabric is a non-stretch polyester, which is why the column holds its line. Measure your bust and waist against the chart before ordering, and take the larger size if you are between two.
Q: Can the scarf collar be worn differently?
It can be tied once at the throat, knotted loose, or left open on the shoulders. It cannot be removed, since it is cut from the same panel as the neckline. All three positions are shown in the gallery.
Q: What underwear works under it?
Seamless, in a tone close to the darkest block. The fabric is opaque but unlined, and the slim cut means a visible seam line will show in raking light.
Q: Does the waist split stay closed when sitting?
It overlaps by several centimetres, so it closes when you sit and reopens as you stand. It is a movement detail, not a slit to the thigh.
Q: How should it be washed?
Cold hand wash or a cold gentle cycle in a laundry bag, then hang to dry in shade. The colour blocks are dyed separately, so keep the first two washes short and cold. Press on the reverse at low heat.
